How Netherlands could line up against England in UEFA Nations League

Sports Mole looks at how the Netherlands could line up against England in Thursday's UEFA Nations League semi-final clash.

The Netherlands will be aiming to continue their resurgence this week when they take on England in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Ronald Koeman's men have been in impressive form over the past year, though their five-match losing run did come to an end against Germany in their most recent outing.

After finishing top of a tricky group that contained Germany and world champions France, the Netherlands are now two games away - with Portugal and Switzerland the other semi-finalists - from a first piece of silverware in three decades.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Koeman could set out his side for Thursday's match against England in Guimaraes.

Possible NETH XI vs. ENG

Doubtful: Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum

England had seven players involved in Saturday's Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, compared to two players for the Netherlands - Van Dijk and Wijnaldum.

Given Van Dijk's importance to this team, having formed a solid partnership with Matthijs de Ligt at the back, there is a good chance Koeman will start the Liverpool centre-back this week after just a few training sessions.

New Barcelona recruit Frenkie de Jong is arguably the key player in this Oranje side and is certain to start, with Marten de Roon and Donny van de Beek in contention to feature alongside him.

Ryan Babel has become a regular under Koeman in the forward line, meanwhile, and there is no reason to suggest that he will lose his place for this big match.

Steven Bergwijn and Quincy Promes are battling for a starting spot on the opposite flank.

Through the middle, Memphis Depay has had a hand in 21 goals in his last 20 games in all competitions for the Dutch national side.
