Edinson Cavani's representatives have not met with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has rejected claims that Paris Saint-Germain have launched a bid for striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan is one of the most sought-after players in Europe at the moment, and reports claimed on Wednesday that his agent had met with PSG sporting director Leonardo about a possible transfer.

However, De Laurentiis quashed those rumours and insisted that a "rich club" like Napoli does not need to sell Cavani.

"We have not received an offer from PSG for Cavani," De Laurentiis told Sky Sport 24. "We are a rich club that respects financial fair play, we do not need to sell our players.

"If someone wants 'El Matador' then they will have to pay the €63 million clause. If we do not get offers, we would be happy to have him with us at least until his contract expires in 2017."

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Cavani.
