Napoli have moved up to second place in Serie A thanks to a narrow 1-0 win at home to Chievo.

The hosts nearly took the lead as early as the eighth minute, but Gokhan Inler's strike rattled the woodwork.

With the scores goalless at the break, Napoli made the breakthrough just before the hour as Marek Hamsik fired home.

Chievo's night got worse with 12 minutes left to play when Kamil Vacek received his second booking of the match and was sent off.

While Napoli have climbed up to second place, Chievo's sixth defeat of the season has kept them in 19th.
