Bafetimbi Gomis is on target twice as Lyon defeat relegation-threatened Nancy 3-0 in Ligue 1.

Nancy are now just one point above the relegation zone after going down 3-0 at home to high-flying Lyon in Ligue 1 today.

The home side almost landed the first blow in the 17th minute when Benjamin Moukandjo cut inside the area and forced Anthony Lopes to save low to his left.

Nancy would go on to rue that missed opportunity in the second period as Bafetimbi Gomis struck from close range just after the break to give Lyon the lead.

The hosts had their chances to land blows of their own, with Lopes twice denying Moukandjo in the latter stages of the second period.

However, Lyon put the contest beyond them in the 80th minute when Yoann Gourcuff found the bottom corner from the edge of the box after being lined up by Gueida Fofana.

There was even time for the visitors to dump move misery on Nancy, with Gomis claiming his second with one minute left on the clock for a final score of 3-0.
