Ian Baracough: Motherwell loss to Aberdeen 'difficult to comprehend'

Motherwell manager Ian Baraclough says that their Scottish Premiership defeat to Aberdeen is 'difficult to comprehend' as they concede twice from set pieces.

Motherwell manager Ian Baraclough has said that Motherwell must defend set pieces better following their 2-1 Scottish Premiership loss to Aberdeen on Friday.

Scott McDonald gave Motherwell the lead before Ash Taylor headed in from a corner, and Adam Rooney scored the winning goal three minutes later.

"You can keep talking about a sorry story, but if you don't defend set pieces - you wouldn't believe we do so much work on it," Baraclough told BBC Sport.

"We made them change their approach and their personnel in the first half. They couldn't cope with our front men's movement, our energy. We moved the ball very well - how do you comprehend losing a game like that?

"We were looking very comfortable, worthy of going in at half-time 1-0 up. We were looking to extend our lead, not sit back on it."

The result meant that Motherwell remain in the relegation playoff place, three points behind 10th-placed Ross County.
