Millwall are reportedly in advanced talks with Gary Rowett over their current managerial vacancy.
The Lions have been without a head coach since the start of the month when former player Neil Harris stepped down.
Rowett is believed to have had his second interview with the club on Friday and now The Telegraph reports that he has moved into pole position to get the job.
Millwall threw away a two-goal lead inside the final ten minutes to lose 3-2 to Brentford on Saturday, a result which is thought to have convinced the club's board that they need someone with more experience than caretaker boss Adam Barrett at the helm.
Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth was also reportedly in contention for the job but it now appears that former Burton Albion gaffer Rowett will get the nod and that he will be in the stands for their game with Cardiff City on Tuesday.
Rowett was sacked by Stoke City in January, despite only losing three of his previous 17 Championship games in charge of the Potters.
