Middlesbrough are preparing a move for Nacional winger Carlos de Pena, according to a report.
The North-East outfit are bracing themselves for the exit of midfielder Albert Adomah after he handed in a transfer request last week, and was not part of the squad in their 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
However, no bids have yet been lodged for Adomah, but Aitor Karanka is lining up a swoop for De Pena in a £1m deal should the former Bristol City man leave the Riverside Stadium, reports the Evening Gazette.
The Uruguayan winger has made 53 appearances for Nacional, scoring 10 goals, in his three years at the club.
