Middlesbrough's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has reportedly come to an end.
The 27-year-old announced in June that he intends to leave the Bundesliga club this summer in search of more regular first-team football.
Liverpool were previously linked to the Serbian, who played under their manager Jurgen Klopp for seven years at Dortmund, but Boro recently opened talks regarding a transfer.
According to Sky Sports News, those talks have broken down, suggesting that Subotic will not be joining Aitor Karanka's side for the new Premier League season.
The news comes less than two weeks after reports emerged claiming that Arsenal have expressed an interest in the player.
