Middlesbrough sign Fabio da Silva from Cardiff City

Middlesbrough sign former Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

Middlesbrough have signed former Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old moves to the newly-promoted Premier League outfit on a two-year deal that will keep him at the Riverside Stadium until 2018.

The Brazilian has previous experience of top-flight football from his time with Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers in addition to Cardiff.

Boro reportedly triggered Fabio's release clause before entering personal terms with the full-back, who becomes Aitor Karanka's seventh signing of the summer.

Fabio made 68 appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring one goal.
