Championship side Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Bartholomew Ogbeche after the Nigerian underwent a successful trial with the club.
The 27-year-old striker scored twice in a behind-closed-doors game against Blackburn Rovers earlier this week, prompting manager Tony Mowbray to offer him a deal at the Riverside.
"He knows where the back of the net is," Mowbray told BBC Radio Tees.
"I don't want people to think we've signed Lionel Messi, but we've signed a footballer who has got a few assets."
Ogbeche, who represented Nigeria at the 2002 World Cup, was a free agent after his contract with Greek side Kavala expired during the summer.
