Carlos de Pena joins Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough sign winger Carlos de Pena on a three-year deal from Uruguayan side Nacional.

Middlesbrough have confirmed that they signed Carlos de Pena from Uruguayan side Nacional just ahead of the transfer deadline.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Championship side after undergoing a medical in Brazil earlier today.

A statement on Boro's website says that the winger, who has scored 10 goals in 53 appearances for the Montevideo club, will join up with the club later this week.

De Pena is the second Uruguayan to join the club this summer following the arrival of Christian Stuani from Espanyol.
