Jordan Ayew "very happy" to play for Marseille

Jordan Ayew is happy to stay at Marseille, despite requesting to leave the club over the summer.

Marseille striker Jordan Ayew has revealed that he is happy at the club, despite almost leaving over the summer.

Ayew, who has netted seven times already this season, has said that he asked coach Elie Baup to leave in August but is now enjoying his time at Marseille.

"Did I meet Baup in August to leave?" L'Equipe quotes Ayew as saying. "I was frank. Everyone knew the situation, the coach and the chairman.

"The team was playing well. It was logical there was no position for me in the starting XI.

"The officials wanted me to stay and asked me to be patient. I am very happy to be at L'OM. I try to make efforts to channel my passion."

Ayew scored seven goals for Marseille last season.
