Joey Barton says that the fierce atmosphere between Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain is nothing new to him.

Marseille midfielder Joey Barton has insisted that he will not be fazed about taking on Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.

The meeting of the two sides is traditionally seen as the most fiercely contested match in French football, with the two meeting in Ligue 1 on Sunday just days before they square off in the Coupe de France quarter-finals.

However, the on-loan Queens Park Rangers man is adamant that rival clashes are nothing new to him.

"I've experienced Manchester City-Manchester United, Sunderland-Newcastle and QPR-Chelsea," said Barton. "The electric atmosphere doesn't worry me, it's even the norm for me. I am experienced, I know the score. There's nothing new for me in a derby.

"The season has already given a lot of surprises and twists. And we're not the types to give up. Nor are [second-placed] Lyon.

"We remain motivated and concentrated even if we haven't been very strong in recent matches. This week could change our season."

Ahead of the match, Barton has also said that his side should not be afraid of David Beckham, who could make his PSG debut in the fixture.
