Ashley Young 'wants longer Manchester United deal'

Ashley Young is reportedly keen to sign a new contract at Manchester United but would prefer a deal which is longer than 12 months.

Ashley Young has reportedly requested a new contract at Old Trafford which does not expire until at least 2021.

Young has made a total of 225 appearances for United during his seven-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford, but the versatile player has less than six months left on his contract.

According to the Daily Mail, United are happy to hand Young a 12-month extension at the club but the 33-year-old would prefer a longer deal.

The report suggests that the request is currently holding up the process of fresh terms being finalised, and that it remains unclear whether Young will stay at the North-West giants.

Inter Milan are said to be monitoring the situation, with Young now able to pen a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.
