Louis van Gaal: "Chicharito is the second striker"

Louis van Gaal indicates that Javier Hernandez will be staying at Manchester United this summer.

Louis van Gaal has informed Javier Hernandez that he will be Manchester United's "second striker" for the ongoing 2015-16 campaign.

It was expected that the Mexican international, who spent last term on loan with Real Madrid, would leave Old Trafford this summer, amid speculation that the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Orlando City were interested in his services.

However, when asked about the 27-year-old's future, Van Gaal insisted that he will be used as a deputy to captain Wayne Rooney over the coming months.

"The striker is Rooney and Chicharito is the second striker. He knows that," the United boss told reporters.

Hernandez was an unused substitute during the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
