Wesley Sneijder has revealed that he had no intention of leaving Inter Milan to join Manchester United.
The Holland international was persistently linked with a transfer to the Premier League champions over the summer, with some reports claiming that the two clubs agreed a fee.
However, a move never materialised and the 27-year-old has claimed that he is happy with life in Italy.
"I never wanted to leave Inter," the midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Over the summer they called me and said, I think due to a financial issue, that I could be leaving Italy.
"This made me change my ideas a little bit, but once I got to pre-season training everyone made me feel important to this club."
Sneijder joined the Blue and Blacks from Real Madrid in 2009.
