Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
The Sampdoria stopper has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield in recent weeks as Brendan Rodgers looks to replace Pepe Reina, who joined Bayern Munich this month.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, United have entered the reckoning for the 27-year-old, who Louis van Gaal wants to provide competition for David de Gea.
Emiliano Viviano's arrival at Sampdoria is expected to push Romero toward the exit door and his future will be decided before the transfer window closes on Monday.
The Argentine started all seven of his country's games in their journey to the World Cup final this summer.
