Manchester United hope to get a deal over the line for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred within the next fortnight, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly confident of making Fred their first summer signing after entering advanced talks with the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder.

The Red Devils are said to be keen to get a deal over the line for the Brazil international before the World Cup gets underway in three weeks' time.

Fred is due to arrive in Britain next week as Brazil prepare for a friendly against Croatia at Anfield, and the Manchester Evening News reports that a move could be finalised during his visit to the North-West.

A medical must be completed at Carrington and personal terms agreed, with the same report indicating that no glitches are expected.

Paris Saint-Germain are also rumoured to have made contact with Fred, who has a £53m release clause in his Shakhtar contract.
