Report: Darren Fletcher nears Manchester United exit

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to join West Ham United on a free transfer.

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher will leave the club on a free transfer this month, according to reports.

The Scotland international has been a peripheral figure this season, and he has been linked with a move away from the club this month as he has struggled to get past the likes of Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini in the pecking order.

The Daily Mail says that West Ham United and Valencia have made offers to the player, while West Bromwich Albion have been credited with interest in the past.

The club are apparently prepared to let the player go for nothing and pay a contribution of his new wages.

The report claims that his preferred club is Valencia, but they are unable to make enough room for him so he is now widely expected to join West Ham.

Fletcher has made 342 appearances for United.
