Newcastle United are reportedly in discussions over a loan deal for Manchester United's Jesse Lingard.
The England international has struggled for regular action at Old Trafford this season despite starring on loan at West Ham United in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.
Lingard's contract with the Red Devils is due to expire this summer, meanwhile, and he is expected to leave the 20-time English champions on a free transfer ahead of next season.
West Ham continue to be linked with a permanent deal for the 29-year-old, but according to the Manchester Evening News, Newcastle are currently the favourites to secure his services.
The report claims that the Magpies are in talks over a loan deal, which would include a fee, in addition to Eddie Howe's side covering Lingard's £100,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford.
The Englishman has scored twice and contributed one assist in 14 appearances at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, but he has only played 88 minutes of Premier League football this season.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the attacker's services this month, but Ralf Rangnick's side are allegedly not prepared to let him join a top-four rival.
