Manchester United have announced that they have completed the signing of Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
Over the past 24 hours, most of the speculation involving United has surrounded the potential additions of Lisandro Martinez and Frenkie de Jong.
However, just hours after they defeated Melbourne Victory in a pre-season friendly, the Premier League giants have confirmed that they have won the race to sign Eriksen.
The Denmark international has penned a three-year contract after opting against remaining at Brentford, where he impressed during the second half of last season.
Speaking to the club's official website, the 30-year-old said: "Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling.

"I have seen Erik [ten Hag]'s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future.
"I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey."
Just over 12 months ago, it was feared that Eriksen's career would be cut short after he suffered a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020.
Although he was fitted with a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, Serie A regulations prevented him from continuing his playing days with Inter Milan.

That eventually led to the playmaker spending the second half of 2021-22 with Brentford, where he contributed one goal and four assists from 11 appearances.
The Bees had hoped to retain the services of Eriksen, while former club Tottenham Hotspur were in the running at one stage, with it being claimed that the player wished to remain in London.
However, it is United who have subsequently won the race for his signature, with Eriksen joining left-back Tyrell Malacia in making the transfer to the Theatre Of Dreams.
Eriksen is a welcome addition in a creative position, with Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata having all departed United as free agents.
