Report: Manchester United to swap Robin van Persie for Valencia's Nicolas Otamendi

Manchester United are considering a cash-plus-player exchange with Valencia that would see Robin van Persie trade places with Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports.

Manchester United have been told by Valencia that they can sign Nicolas Otamendi, providing that Robin van Persie heads the other way, according to reports.

The Argentina international, whose agent has said that he is keen for a move away from the La Liga side, has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.

According to Spanish outlet SportYou, Valencia, who will not let the 27-year-old leave for less than the full £35m release clause in his current contract, are willing to let United sign him in exchange for the Netherlands international plus cash.

Otamendi is currently away on international duty for the 2014 World Cup finalists at the Copa America.
