Manchester United have reportedly tabled a second bid in the region of £20m for Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.
The English champions, who have been watching the 24-year-old for over a year, are believed to have had an initial bid of £16m turned down by the Portuguese club.
While Benfica are keen to keep hold of their star player, it is thought that the Red Devils have returned with an improved offer of £20m, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
United's local rivals Manchester City have also been linked with the Argentina international, but reports have suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson is the favourite to land the player.
