Manchester United will reportedly benefit financially if Romelu Lukaku leaves Inter Milan for Chelsea this summer.
Over the past 48 hours, it has been suggested that Chelsea have failed with a bid of £85.3m plus Marcos Alonso as they bid to re-sign their former striker.
However, the European champions are expected to up their offer and eventually secure the signature of the Belgium international.
According to The Express, United are still owed as much as £47m by Inter, who agreed to pay the Red Devils in instalments two years ago.
United are also said to have included a sell-on fee, leaving the Serie A champions in a position where they will effectively pay the English side over half of any transfer fee generated.
Inter's financial issues have already led to the sale of Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.
