Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Red Devils are understood to have identified the 26-year-old as a potential target next summer, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, West Ham United's Declan Rice and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ruben Neves.
According to Il Messaggero, via Sport Witness, United are leading Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio, who may need to cash in on the midfielder next summer if they are to 'open a new cycle'.
The report adds that Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito is hoping the Serbia international can continue his impressive form for the rest of this season as he is looking to sell their star man for a figure in excess of €80m (£66.3m).
Milinkovic-Savic, however, is understood to prefer a move to Real Madrid and has recently dismissed rumours of a potential move to Old Trafford.
The former Genk midfielder has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 21 Serie A appearances this season, and is under contract with Lazio until June 2024.
