Tottenham Hotspur duo Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil are both left out of the Lilywhites' squad for their pre-season tour of Asia to explore possible moves elsewhere.

Two Tottenham Hotspur outcasts have been left out of the Lilywhites' squad for their pre-season tour of Asia in order to "explore prospective transfer opportunities", the club have confirmed.

Following a pair of successes away to Hearts and Queens Park Rangers in their opening engagements of the summer, Tottenham are once again travlling east for a triple-header of friendlies.

Ange Postecoglou's side will firstly head to the Japanese capital city of Tokyo, where Vissel Kobe will await on Saturday, before a pair of fixtures in the South Korean capital of Seoul.

Tottenham will take on a K-League XI at 12pm UK time on July 31, before rounding off their Asian tour against German giants Bayern Munich at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on August 3.

Postecoglou has summoned a total of 31 players for the pre-season tour, but Spanish pair Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil have been left at home as they endeavour to secure moves elsewhere.

Manchester United to benefit from Spurs' Reguilon decision?

"Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilon have been granted permission not to travel in order to explore prospective transfer opportunities," Spurs said on their website when confirming their tour squad.

Both Reguilon and Gil spent the 2023-24 season away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan, and neither were expected to force their way back into Postecoglou's team for 2024-25.

Reguilon represented Manchester United and then Brentford across two separate spells last season, and it has been reported that the Red Devils are open to welcoming him back to Old Trafford, but they are currently focusing on deals for Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte.

Meanwhile, Gil has failed to live up to his potential since arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2021, and the winger is expected to seal a permanent return to La Liga in the next few weeks.

The Lilywhites have also left Fraser Forster at home as the goalkeeper recovers from a foot fracture, while Rodrigo Bentancur, Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Micky van de Ven are still on a break after the Copa America and Euro 2024.

However, Richarlison and Emerson Royal are both on the plane despite rumours that they could also be sold by Spurs, as is defender Djed Spence, who has impressed in pre-season so far.

Will Harry Kane face Tottenham in pre-season?

Tottenham's showdown with Bayern Munich on August 3 would have originally seen the Lilywhites reunite with former captain and all-time top scorer Harry Kane, who ended his prolific spell in North London last year in pursuit of silverware.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Kane will not be available for the meeting with Spurs in South Korea, though, as the England skipper recovers from leading the Three Lions to the Euro 2024 final.

The 30-year-old could still reunite with his erstwhile employers later this summer, though, as Tottenham also square off with Bayern in the English capital on August 10 to round off pre-season.
