Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly ready to go head to head for the signature of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Manchester City and Manchester United are both reportedly interested in West Ham United's Declan Rice and ready to go head to head for his signature.

Rice has been an influential member of David Moyes's squad this season as the Hammers have climbed from a relegation battle last term to fighting for European football in 2020-21, with his performances for his club and the England national team catching the eye of Premier League leaders.

Pep Guardiola is believed to be allowed funds to spend this summer and is looking for a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Fernandinho, while across Manchester Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in Rice should Brazilian Fred be moved on from Old Trafford in the next few months.

Moyes responded to transfer speculation surrounding Rice in March and told reporters: "I don't agree with the owners that Declan Rice is a £100m footballer. Far, far more than £100m. Far, far more. I look at the players who have joined some clubs from overseas and come in and nowhere near had the impact Declan Rice would have.

"I certainly wouldn't put a price on it. You can decide which figure you want to put on it but I wouldn't be sanctioning anything like that, that's for sure."

However, despite the speculation around his future, Moyes went on to say he expects Rice to remain in East London and help the club on a European journey: "Declan seems very settled and in fact he is captaining West Ham, he plays for England, and I want to keep Declan thinking that his ambitions can be achieved here at West Ham and I will have to keep pushing that and keep pushing that with the owners as well," he added.

"For me, I have watched the prices of some players who have gone to clubs recently and they could not lace Declan Rice's boots."

Rice was a regular in West Ham first-team training by the age of 16 and after making his first-team debut in 2016, he has gone on to gain the captaincy of the club and make 143 appearances for the Hammers.
