Manchester City are reportedly ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Metz midfielder Pape Sarr.

Metz teenager Pape Sarr is 'much more likely' to join Manchester City than Manchester United during this summer's transfer window, according to journalist Jonathan Shrager.

The 18-year-old moved to Metz from Senegal Premier League side Generation Foot last September and has made 30 appearances for the French outfit in all competitions, scoring four times.

A number of clubs are believed to be interested in the midfielder, including Man City and Man United, while Chelsea are also thought to be keen on a summer deal.

According to Shrager, as it stands, the teenager is more likely to move to the Etihad Stadium to join the reigning English champions than to arrive at Old Trafford.

Sarr, who has a contract with his Ligue 1 side until June 2025, has already made two appearances at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, featuring in the league clashes with Lille and Nantes.

The youngster has also been capped on two occasions by Senegal, making his debut against Congo in March before featuring in the friendly with Cape Verde in June.
