Dortmund: 'Haaland could stay beyond next summer'

Borussia Dortmund boss Marco Rose feels that Erling Braut Haaland could decide to spend longer than one more year at the Westfalenstadion.

Borussia Dortmund boss Marco Rose has insisted that it is not a foregone conclusion that Erling Braut Haaland will leave the club next summer.

Despite talk of a big-money transfer to Chelsea last month, it appears highly likely that the Norway international will spend the 2021-22 campaign at the Westfalenstadion.

However, with reports persisting that the 21-year-old has a release clause in his contract, the suggestion remains that he will depart the Bundesliga outfit ahead of next season.

Rose believes differently, however, with the recently-appointed manager insisting that a successful period with Dortmund could lead to a change in the script.

Speaking to Bild, Rose said: "He still has a long-term contract with us. Just because the public is constantly talking about him leaving BVB next summer, that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

"In the end, Erling has to decide for himself where he sees his future. In any case, we are happy that he is currently playing for us and, who knows, possibly it'll be even more than just one season if we write an extraordinary story here."

Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are all likely to be monitoring the situation.
