Sebastian Kehl: 'Borussia Dortmund would welcome Shinji Kagawa'

Sebastian Kehl claims that Manchester United's Shinji Kagawa would be welcomed back with open arms at Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl has claimed that everyone at the German club would be eager to see Shinji Kagawa return before the end of the transfer window.

The Manchester United attacking midfielder has been linked with a move back to his former club in recent days, and Kehl believes that the familiar surroundings could be the perfect place for the Japan international to rediscover his best form.

"Shinji was a very important factor in our side's successes in 2011 and 2012. He delivered some fantastic performances in Dortmund, but unfortunately he's not had such an easy time in Manchester," the 34-year-old told reporters.

"If he were to join us, then he would need to be built back up again, and he would find the surroundings here where he would be welcomed wholeheartedly, both from the fans and from the team.

"He would get all the support he would need to be able to deliver his best performances again."

Kagawa moved to United for an initial £12m in June 2012.
