Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is reportedly of interest to Fulham, especially if Bayern Munich reopen discussions for Joao Palhinha.

Fulham have reportedly shown interest in signing Manchester United's Scott McTominay in January.

Erik ten Hag was believed to be keen on McTominay's departure over the summer, but despite interest from West Ham United, he stayed put.

The Scotland international was sparsely used at Old Trafford before the closing of the transfer window, playing just nine minutes before the September international break.

McTominay would then go on to feature twice for Scotland, scoring again to keep up their strong hopes of reaching Euro 2024.

The midfielder's goalscoring influence has been vital for the Scots, as he has netted six goals in five qualifiers so far as they top Group A.

After staying at the club, Ten Hag has opted to use McTominay more often now, starting him in both league matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley.

However, the Manchester Evening News claims that is not putting any potential suitors off from pursuing a move for him, with Fulham supposedly open to a January move for McTominay.

Fulham had McTominay on their shortlist when it appeared likely that Joao Palhinha would move to Bayern Munich late in the window.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was also touted as a player of interest to the Cottagers, but after Palhinha's move fell through, Fulham pulled the plug on any potential deals.

With Bayern expected to reopen discussions when the window reopens though, Fulham could still be back in the market for a midfielder, and McTominay is expected to be high on their list.

McTominay's exit could therefore open a space in the United squad for them to sign Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur.

Another report from the Manchester Evening News states that United would like to add more depth to their midfield, especially if McTominay decides to move on.

Hojbjerg has fallen out of favour at Tottenham since Ange Postecoglou arrived as manager, with the Dane not starting a single Premier League game this season.

With it appearing unlikely that Hojbjerg will be able to dislodge the current midfield partnership of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, he could decide to move in January.

Juventus could provide competition for Hojbjerg, but it is expected that they will only be open to a loan deal, as they are unable to meet Spurs' £26m valuation.
