Former France international Christophe Dugarry urges his World Cup-winning teammate Zinedine Zidane to move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.

Former France international Christophe Dugarry has urged Real Madrid to make their move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been a long-term target for Madrid, and manager Zinedine Zidane remains keen to bring his fellow World Cup winner to the Bernabeu when the transfer window reopens.

Juventus have reportedly jumped ahead of Madrid in the race for his signature, but Dugarry believes that a switch to the Spanish capital would be best for the 27-year-old.

"We have all seen that their midfield has grown a little old. It's a midfield that struggles to break the lines and get on the end of crosses," Dugarry told RMC Sport.

"Pogba knows how to do that. For me, he's ideal because of what he would bring to Real Madrid. It has been a difficult year for him, with injuries and what have you.

"The team is not doing well, but every time he has played, he has reached his level. Knowing Zizou, if he is in love with Pogba, there is no reason to wait another year."

Pogba has been limited to only eight appearances across all competitions during an injury-plagued 2019-20 campaign.
