Danny Ings is reportedly holding out for a move to Manchester United or Manchester City after rejecting Southampton's offer of a new deal.

Southampton forward Danny Ings is reportedly pining for a move to Manchester United or Manchester City this summer.

The former Liverpool man is believed to have rejected the Saints' offer of a new contract and is due to become a free agent in under 12 months' time.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly wants Ings to partner Harry Kane in North London next season, but journalist Alex Crook claims that the striker instead has his sights set on a move to the North West.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Crook said: "If a big team comes in for him and that hasn't happened. I should stress that there hasn't been a single enquiry.

"He's got his sights set on Manchester United or Man City, I'm not sure either of those clubs are going to start banging on the door."

City are on the lookout for a successor to Sergio Aguero and have been tipped to move for Ings, but United will reportedly wait until 2022 to sign a new forward following Edinson Cavani's extension.

Ings has struck 46 goals in 100 appearances for Southampton since arriving initially on loan in 2018, including 13 strikes in an injury-hit 2020-21 season.
