Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Juan Mata over a new contract at the club.
It was recently claimed that the Spanish winger was ready to be sold to Manchester United in a deal that would have seen Wayne Rooney move the other way.
However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho was quick to dismiss speculation linking the 25-year-old with an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are now keen to extend Mata's terms to prevent interest from elsewhere, according to ESPN.
Mata's current deal is due to expire in 2016.
