Brighton & Hove Albion want Manchester United's Sergio Romero?

Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly identify Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero as an ideal replacement for out-of-favour goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero as a potential replacement for Mat Ryan.

Seagulls manager Graham Potter has opted for Robert Sanchez in between the sticks recently, with Ryan now expected to seek pastures new after falling out of favour at the Amex Stadium.

Meanwhile, Romero is currently behind David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant in the Old Trafford pecking order and was not included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Premier League or Champions League squads this season.

Now, the Daily Mail claims that Brighton will attempt to swoop for Romero - who will become a free agent in the summer - if Ryan does end up leaving the club.

The out-of-favour United keeper was tipped to complete a switch to Everton in the summer before a deal reportedly fell through, and David Beckham's Inter Miami have also been credited with an interest in the 33-year-old.

Romero has kept 39 clean sheets in 61 appearances for the Red Devils, who moved level on points with Premier League leaders Liverpool following a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Friday night.
