Daley Blind an alternative to Luke Shaw for United?

A report claims that Manchester United are contemplating a move for Daley Blind as their pursuit of Luke Shaw continues to stall.

Manchester United's incoming manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly identified Daley Blind as an alternative signing to Luke Shaw.

It has been speculated that United have recently held discussions with Southampton regarding the transfer of Shaw, but as yet, the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement.

As a result, United and Van Gaal are prepared to look elsewhere for a new left-back, with Ajax defender Blind a leading contender, according to The Mirror.

The report adds that the Old Trafford-based outfit have already made contact with Ajax to learn their asking price for the 24-year-old, which is thought to be around £12m.

Blind, who can also play in midfield, was named the Dutch Footballer of the Year last season.
