Blackpool are preparing a last-minute attempt to hijack Swansea City's proposed move for Manchester United youngster Ethan Laird, according to a report.

Blackpool are reportedly preparing to hijack Swansea City's proposed move for Manchester United youngster Ethan Laird.

The Red Devils are understood to be keen to send the versatile 20-year-old out on loan for the 2021-22 season, and Swansea were thought to be at the head of the queue.

New Swans manager Russell Martin worked with Laird during his stint at MK Dons during the 2020-21 campaign, where he claimed four assists from 24 League One games.

Martin supposedly wants to reunite with Laird in South Wales later this month, but The Sun claims that Blackpool are preparing a last-ditch attempt to hijack Swansea's loan deal.

The report adds that Blackpool are keen to use the youngster as a right-back and centre-back during the Championship season, but Swansea remain optimistic about their chances of beating the Seasiders to Laird's signature.

Laird penned a new deal at Old Trafford until the summer of 2023 last year, and he has made two appearances for United's first team in the Europa League.
