Report: Arsenal to battle Manchester United for Ilkay Gundogan signature

Arsenal are keen to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan despite interest in the German international from Manchester United, according to reports.

Arsenal are looking to beat Manchester United to the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to reports.

The 24-year-old is said to be stalling on a contract extension at the Signal Iduna Park, with his current deal due to expire next summer.

Gundogan has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for the last few seasons, but The Mirror claims that Arsene Wenger has earmarked the German international for a move to North London.

Gundogan has just returned from a 14-month injury layoff.
