Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their interest in signing Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Tripper before the August 31 deadline.
The Gunners are in the market to find a replacement for wantaway right-back Hector Bellerin, who has expressed his desire to leave the club.
Trippier still has two years remaining on his contract and Atletico are only prepared to sell him if his £34m release clause is activated.
According to The Sun, Arsenal have approached Atletico to sign the England international and are hoping that the La Liga champions will reduce their asking price.
Manchester United are also keen to recruit the former Tottenham Hotspur defender, but like Arsenal, they are not prepared to pay such a fee for a player who turns 31 next month.
Trippier made 35 appearances across all competitions for Atletico last season, as well as featuring five times for England at Euro 2020.
