Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is sweating over the fitness of a quintet of doubts for Saturday evening's Premier League clash with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Red Devils are already guaranteed to be without Luke Shaw (muscle), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Anthony Martial (groin) for the clash with the Bees, while Amad Diallo is suspended owing to his red card in the FA Cup triumph over Liverpool.
In addition, Harry Maguire pulled out of England duty before the Three Lions' draw with Belgium, while fellow centre-back Lisandro Martinez is in the final stages of his recovery from a knee injury but did link up with the Argentina squad to continue his recuperation.
All of Jonny Evans (strain), Altay Bayindir (unspecified) and Casemiro (muscle) will also need assessing after sitting out the 4-3 beating of Liverpool, leaving Ten Hag at risk of being without nine players in West London.
Unless Maguire is given the green light, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof will join forces in front of Andre Onana, most likely with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka either side of them, although there is optimism that Martinez will make the squad.
On the back of making his England debut and then shining on his first Three Lions start, Kobbie Mainoo returns to the Man United midfield, where Scott McTominay - scorer of an injury-time brace in October's home win over Brentford - should join him if Casemiro does not make the cut.
Antony may have scored an increasingly rare goal in the cup success over Liverpool, but Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes appear to be shoo-ins behind Rasmus Hojlund for now.
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Varane, Dalot; Mainoo, McTominay; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
