Team News: Wayne Rooney starts on bench against Swansea City

David Moyes names Wayne Rooney on the bench for his first Premier League game in charge of Manchester United.

Wayne Rooney has been left out of Manchester United's starting lineup for their opening game of the Premier League season.

Manager David Moyes has named Robin van Persie up front alongside Danny Welbeck, while Ryan Giggs and Antonio Valencia also start.

Meanwhile, Michu has been named as the only striker in Swansea City's starting XI for the match, while Jonjo Shelvey makes his first start for the League Cup holders.

However, Michael Laudrup has indicated that new signing Wilfried Bony will enter the attack later in the game, but cannot play for full 90 minutes as he is suffering from jet lag.
