Half-Time Report: Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck fire Manchester United ahead

Goals from Robin van Persie and Antonio Valencia give Manchester United a 2-0 lead at half time against Swansea City.

Manchester United have taken a 2-0 lead at half time in their opening game of the Premier League season against Swansea City.

Michael Vorm made a strong save early on for the home side, as Phil Jones looked for goal with a half-volley on the edge of the box.

The visitors were left scrambling in the 20th minute as they looked to clear a Nathan Dyer effort, allowing Michu to lash the ball into the back of the net, only to be ruled offside.

Robin van Persie broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, flicking in off the post from a Ryan Giggs pass.

Danny Welbeck doubled the champions' advantage just two minutes later with a tap-in from close range after Antonio Valencia drilled the ball into the box.
