Wayne Rooney is absent from the Manchester United side to play Stoke City this evening.

Wayne Rooney has missed Manchester United's trip to Stoke City this evening with a hamstring strain.

The England international's place has been taken by Dimitar Berbatov, who partners Javier Hernandez up front.

Rio Ferdinand also returns to the fold, with Phil Jones filling at right full-back for the injured Chris Smalling.

Peter Crouch will the lead the line for hosts Stoke, while Jonathan Woodgate takes his place in the centre of defence.

Stoke: Begovic; Wilkinson, Shawcross, Woodgate, Wilson; Pennant, Whelan, Delap, Etherington; Crouch, Walters.

Man Utd: De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Nani, Anderson, Fletcher, Young; Berbatov, Hernandez.
