Wayne Rooney praises Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea

Manchester United's David de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in world football at present, according to skipper Wayne Rooney.

Wayne Rooney has insisted that his Manchester United teammate David de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The Spaniard's performances between the posts have been widely lauded over the last couple of seasons, with yesterday away at Chelsea being another standout display.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, Rooney told the club's official website: "I think David again made some incredible saves.

"I've said before he's probably been the best goalkeeper in the world in the last few seasons and, again, he made some important saves to keep it at 1-0 for a long time."

De Gea has kept nine clean sheets from his 21 Premier League outings this term.
