Wayne Rooney is a regular player of the National Lottery, according to a report.
The Manchester United and England captain asks friends to buy the £2 tickets on his behalf and harbours "dreams of winning the jackpot", The Sun claims.
"Wayne is a working-class boy at heart and despite having millions in the bank he, like the rest of the nation, loves a flutter on the lottery," a friend told the newspaper.
"He never buys the tickets himself but he gets mates to buy them for him. It's quite funny when you think how rich he is but I guess it proves that no matter how well you're doing, someone else is always doing better."
Rooney earns around £260,000 a week in wages at Old Trafford and has an estimated wealth of £80m.
