Louis van Gaal praises Marouane Fellaini contribution

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal reveals that he has been impressed with the contribution of Marouane Fellaini since his arrival at the club.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that midfielder Marouane Fellaini has done "everything asked of him" since the start of the season.

Fellaini endured a difficult first year at Old Trafford, but in recent weeks, he has been one of the club's star performers and his contribution hasn't gone unnoticed by his manager.

The Dutchman told reporters: "I knew of him but I didn't meet him until after we came back from pre-season in the United States.

"From the first training session, he has done everything I have asked. He has been very open to what I have said and he wants to perform.

"We can change the system but the way he is playing, I cannot change him."

The Belgian international has scored five times in 24 appearances for United in all competitions this season
