Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck could price himself out of a new deal at the club.

Danny Welbeck's talks with Manchester United over a new contract have stalled, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old is understood to be demanding £60,000 a week, while United are only prepared to offer a salary in the region of £45,000.

The England striker has emerged as an important player for Sir Alex Ferguson's side this season, scoring eight times, and he wants parity with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

Ferguson is sweating on the fitness of Welbeck ahead of the weekend trip to Arsenal, with the striker nursing an ankle knock.
