Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes that his side's Community Shield victory over Wigan Athletic will inspire the club's young players.
The Premier League champions began their new era under manager David Moyes with a trophy on Sunday, courtesy of a brace from striker Robin van Persie.
Smalling believes that the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard will feel 'hungry' for more after getting a taste of victory.
"Celebrating in the dressing room after winning a trophy is always a fantastic feeling," Smalling told the club's official website. "It just makes you hungrier to do it again.
"It's great for some of the new lads like Wilf, Jesse and Adnan to experience that feeling. It really gets you in the zone and shows you what you're fighting for."
United will begin their Premier League campaign with a clash against Swansea City on Saturday.
