Wayne Rooney: 'Manchester United will prove critics wrong'

Striker Wayne Rooney insists that he has "no doubts" that Manchester United will be successful this season despite their poor start to the campaign.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes that his side shouldn't be written off this season despite registering just one win in all competitions.

Swansea City, MK Dons and Leicester City have all recorded victories over Louis van Gaal's team in recent weeks, but Rooney, who was made club captain in the summer, has insisted that the expensively-assembled squad will improve in the coming months.

The 28-year-old said on his Facebook page: "There seems to be a lot of people who have written us off because of Sunday's result but I don't see it that way.

"When I look around our dressing room and see the quality we have and the manager's unbelievable attention to detail, I have no doubts this team will be successful."

United currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League table.
