Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick confirms that he will remain at the club in a consultancy role.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that he will remain at the club beyond the summer in a consultancy role.

The German took charge of the Red Devils last December, but he will step aside from the managerial role at the end of the season, with Erik ten Hag arriving from Ajax.

Austria are believed to be preparing to announce Rangnick as their new manager, but the 63-year-old will also be acting as an advisor for the 20-time English champions for the next two years.

"I want to speak tonight about Manchester United and our game and the rest of the season here," Rangnick told reporters. "This is the issue and I can also confirm that I will continue at the end of the season in my consultancy role.

"I will definitely continue with my consultancy role for the next two years and I very much look forward to that. It would leave space for another job yes, but that is what we had agreed to start with back in November last year.

"I didn't say that I will be a big part of it but we have definitely agreed now on the contract and the time of my consultancy role.

"So far, we haven't spoken, Erik and myself but hopefully and probably that will happen in the future. But we have spoken to the board about the contract and that is why I can confirm I will carry on. I am more than happy and willing to help to change things for the better."

Rangnick boasts a record of 10 wins, 10 draws and six defeats from his 26 matches in charge of Man United, who played out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday.

The 20-time English champions, who are sixth in the table, will take on Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace in their final three league games of the campaign.
